School Lunch

I went to eat lunch with Taylor and Riley a couple of days ago while Greg was home from work. It's rare that I get the occasion to do it, so I have to take advantage when I can. Riley was upset that she didn't get to eat outside last time, so luckily it was a very sunny day.

I arrived with McDonald's in hand and met Riley in the cafeteria. She was able to bring one friend with her to the picnic benches outside, so she chose Lindsey, a cute girl that ate lunch with us last time when I was there. The two girls enjoyed being outside, as they told me that the cafeteria is "soooooooo loud!" with all the other kids. I have to agree, I was desperate to be outside myself.

Lindsey told me about her Halloween costume and we found that Riley and her are only a few days apart in age. Well, if she has her birth date correct, she told me she was born on July 40th, but then changed it to July 5th. Riley really had a blast and was in such a good mood. Taylor was coming out of the art building when we were outside, and then met us at the benches with a couple of her friends, Matthew and Angelina. They were all little adults, Riley was introducing Lindsey to Taylor's friends, and Taylor was introducing her friends to Riley.

I helped Lindsey and Riley pack up their lunches and helped them get back to their class which was lining up outside the cafeteria. As that was happening, a couple more third graders from Taylor's class came over. Then another, and another. It reminded me of a college party. Taylor invited a couple of people, and they invited a couple of people, and so on and so on. At the end, there were eight kids at our bench. Uh-oh!

Another mom from Taylor's class came out to eat with her daughter and they had three kids at their bench. I think the entire class was outside that day. They enjoyed it, since it's not often that they get to eat outside. I definitely had fun.
