Along with Thanksgiving at home, we had several Pilgrim and Indian parties at school. Taylor had a PilgrimFest with all the third graders in her school. She wore a Pilgrim bonnet and collar. It was really cute, and I would have photos to share, but I really messed up and accidentally deleted them. I had some camera issues using the same memory card in two different cameras and trying to see photos from one camera onto another. It's a very long story, but basically, the photos were deleted.
I baked my yummy cheesy potato dish which was a big hit. Each class had turkey and all the tasty side dishes that you would have at a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, along with some kid friendly items like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. After lunch under the covered court (the P.E. area), all the third graders participated in Pilgrim games. Hayden and I had fun and enjoyed all the great food.
Two days later, Riley had her Pow Wow, which was her version of Thanksgiving. All the kindergartners dressed up like Indians and did a performance for the parents. They sang songs and acted out a Thanksgiving story. Riley was in the front row so I had a great view of watching her.
Similar to the third graders, the kindergartners had a feast as well. I brought my cheesy potato dish again, but also made a very tasty sweet potato casserole. Even though it's a dinner dish, it's more like a dessert. Probably has something to do with the several cups of sugar in it! Yummy! The kids played after the feast and Hayden was able to run around with them.
We had a fabulous time at both Thanksgiving parties. But I learned two lessons: always make sure you know how to use your camera, and never wear brand new shoes thinking they won't kill your feet. Bad decision on my part!
