The Many Faces of the Faux Hawk

I took Hayden to get a haircut today since it was getting a bit unruly. Actually, it looked great after a shower and blowdry, but since he only showers at night, it was worthless only having great hair for bedtime. By morning, his hair usually takes on the matted and flattened look. Not cool.

I took him to his favorite place, Cool Cuts For Kids, which is similar to a SuperCuts, only you sit in a fire engine or a taxi rather than a chair. We were the first there so he had his pick of where to sit, and as usual, he went straight for the yellow taxi. He then got to pick out a movie to watch so he picked, of course, Cars. Once the movie got going, Miss Dana, his stylist, went to town on his hair. Watching someone with big scissors within a inch of your child's head while said child is moving all over the place can be nerve racking. However, Miss Dana was great and knew how to handle him. And luckily, no eyes were poked out.

She asked if he wanted to get little styling gel and since faux hawks are all the rage on little boys, I decided to go with that. I used to be so against those things, but after seeing one on my kid, I wonder why I never did it before. Of course, he is my kid, so I may be biased. After the haircut, he got a butterscotch lollipop and headed for the train table. Who wouldn't look cool with a faux hawk and a lollipop sticking out of their mouth?
