Why is it that when I want to take a simple group shot of my children, there is always one who will make it difficult? I love seeing other people's professional photos of their families; the children are smiling and well behaved. I would love to do the same for our family, but I worry that we'll be put on some photographer black list. I want to do outdoor photos, but I imagine my son running off after a squirrel, my middle daughter telling the photographer HOW to take her photo (diva? oh yes!), and my oldest getting photo shy and hiding behind a tree. Then all that's left is Greg shaking his head and me crying. I just don't see that as a photo to go on the mantle. Because of that, I try my best to take photos of the kids at home.
The light was coming in nicely yesterday afternoon, so I got the kids in the living room. After getting them to stand in the right positions, Hayden started in with his gang signs. OK, they really aren't gang signs, but he has a habit of pointing his fingers during picture time.
Then he started sticking his tongue out. "Hayden! Please smile at the camera!"
Nope! That just made him upset.
He got over being upset quite quickly, but then went into hyper drive.
After calming down for a moment, he gave the pained look. Talking through his teeth, "Am I smiling good, Mommy?"
And there we go. FINALLY! A smile. And all it took was a bribe of chocolate and ice cream.
