Lunch at School

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to eat lunch with my girls at their elementary school. They had been asking for weeks, or years in Taylor's case, for me to come eat with them. Luckily, they have separate lunch times, so I didn't have to divide my time with them.

The weather wasn't very cooperative, so Riley and I ate inside the cafeteria. However, once Taylor's time came, it wasn't so bad so we ate outside. Unfortunately, Riley was walking back to class and saw us outside which sent her into a tizzy. I promised to come back to have lunch again with her outside, so it seemed to calm her down a bit.

Parenting really is a learning experience. I understood the weather, but Riley didn't see it that way and felt it was unfair, as she explained to me in between sobs. However, that didn't help me from feeling like the size of an ant. I really wish each child came with their own instruction manual with a troubleshooting section in the back.

Hopefully, she'll be OK, especially since I have to be in her class tomorrow to do a volcano science experiment. Oh, the mess!! You will probably notice the Harry Potterish type cape that Taylor is wearing. She is a Super Spider for the week, or maybe it's just the day. Her teacher calls his students Snider's Spiders. She gets to wear the cape all day long which is totally cool to her, especially because it has a huge spider on the back. Oh, the joy of being eight years old!
