Jansen Dance

Last week was the last day of dance and acrobatics for the 2010-11 year for Taylor and Riley. Riley had started out taking tap dance lessons through Jansen Dance Project back in August. After a semester of tap, she moved on to Hippity Hop, a version of Hip Hop that is geared toward preschoolers. While she loved tap, Hippity Hop was her true passion. She was the four year old version of Lady Gaga. OK, not really, she wasn't wearing raw meat clothing or parading around in stilettos taller than her. However, she loved dancing in her class. She loved it so much that instead of watching Saturday morning cartoons, she would watch music videos and dance around the family room, ALL. MORNING. LONG.

Taylor began going with me to Riley's class in February. She would sit in the parent room with me and watch all the classes through the TV monitors that are around so the moms and dads can watch their kids. There was an acrobatics class going on in one of the rooms and Tay enjoyed watching the girls do handsprings and back flips. After a couple of weeks, she tried out a class and fell in love! She's only taken 2 1/2 months worth of classes, but she is learning how to do a handstand and cartwheels. She's not ready for full blown back flips, but she's practicing her basics until classes start back up in August.

Since it was the last day of classes, I was able to go into the studio and take photos. Riley's class was first and she performed a little routine. It was so cute, and the girl was really rockin' it. I was able to get a little video of her dance:

Hanging out in the lobby before class.

Rock it girl!

With Taylor's class, I took a lot of photos. Most of them were blurry since I'm not a professional photog. But seriously, you can only take so many photos of a cartwheel. Until next August... Enjoy the photos!

Handstand!

Such a diva!

Overly silly!

Waiting for class to start.

Handstand on her own. I was petrified she would flip over.
