The New House

After 9 years married, 3 children and several moves, we are finally homeowners. It took a long time, but we are very happy to finally have a place of our own.

We just transferred to Tampa, FL, the sunny state, this past July. Upon arrival, we noticed the housing market was perfect for buyers down here, so we decided to jump on it. On our first go around, we saw a lot of foreclosed home and short sales. Tampa has been one of the worst hit areas with foreclosures, so that seemed to be the majority of the homes we saw. Some of the homes were in decent shape, and others, well...we were wondering if we would find a dead body in the closet. We drove up to one house that seemed in good shape and in a very nice neighborhood. Unfortunately, a swarm of bees decided it was a good house for them as well and had moved into the downstairs area. We found three homes we loved, but our offers were too late as they immediately had contracts within hours of us seeing them.

We started to get a bit discouraged but our agent sent us some more MLS sheets of homes and we came across one that had some nice photos. We went to see it and Greg fell in love. After a lot of issues, arguing and fighting (and that was all done between the now divorced husband and wife sellers!!! not with us!), we finally closed on the house. We went through a lot to get the house (which will have to be another blog entry, a LONG blog entry) but we are so happy to have it.

About the house: it's a five bedroom, 3 full bath house at 3490 sq. ft. It has formal living and dining rooms, a large family room, good sized kitchen and breakfast nook. There is a downstairs bedroom which I'm converting into my craft room/office. Upstairs are the bedrooms, the girls share one large bedroom, Hayden has his own room, and a guest bedroom. The master is large with it's own sitting area and double doors into a large sized master bath. There is a hall bathroom upstairs as well. And finally, a media/bonus room which is opened to the upstairs. Right now, it's holding a few boxes, but eventually we hope to make it into a T.V. area. We have a three car garage, although my vehicle takes up about 2 spots.

Amazingly, for the size of the house, we got it for a steal. Literally!! We hope to be here for a long time to enjoy it. The kids certainly do!
Here are a few photos on the kitchen and dining room along with the foyer.
