Today was the first day of school for all the public school kids here in our area. The streets were packed with yellow buses and the cars in my neighborhood were full of cute faced kids in their first day of school clothes that they probably had decided on weeks before. However, today starts Taylor's THIRD week of kindergarten. It's actually not her first full week of school because she started her first week two Friday's ago, and then last week they had Friday off, and obviously yesterday was Labor Day.
On her first day of school, we woke up early, thanks to the school, Hampton Roads Academy, deciding they would start the school day 15 minutes earlier this year. After hitting the snooze a couple of times and finally pulling myself up out of bed with my eyes barely open, I went into Taylor's room to wake her up. As soon as I turned on her lights, she opened her eyes and shot out of bed running to the bathroom for her morning routine. She was super excited about her first day and ready to see all her friends from Pre-K. After her morning breakfast and getting the other kids fed, we piled in the car and drove on to her school. Luckily we got there a bit early and towards the front of the carpool line, because by 8am the cars snaked all through the school parking lot and out to the main road blocking traffic. I was so happy not to be out there with everyone honking. As I went through the line (which was very well setup with all the parent volunteers and teachers helping to maneuver traffic), Taylor exited the car with her little tote made for her by her teacher. One of the 4th or 5th grade carpool monitors escorted her to class, as they do everyday, and off she went. At least this time I didn't cry. It was quite bittersweet, because I'm so happy for her starting kindergarten, but SERIOUSLY!!! My child is starting kindergarten. I'm feeling a bit old now! Oh well. Enjoy the photos of her first day.

It looks like Taylor is taller than she was just last month. I really do miss you and those three little ones. Grams
