A friend of mine called me and asked if I would be willing to take some family photographs for her. While I was absolutely ecstatic that someone would even consider me as a photographer, I started to worry about how well, or how not so well, I would do. I decided not to accept money for the work because I'm not established (yet!!) and what if they turn out horrible? Hopefully, they shouldn't, but I think it will be a great learning experience for me. I am still learning all the bells and whistles of my Nikon D80, and it's the first digital SLR camera I have ever owned. Well, at the price, it's probably the ONLY I will ever own, at least for the next few years. Greg is letting me borrow some of his lenses from his old photographing days so I need to figure out how to use some of them and their capabilities when doing family photography.
I joined a photography club, but unfortunately, I have only been able to make it to one meeting. My schedule, along with Greg's, just doesn't allow me to be there all the time. But I still get their tips and tricks so I get a bit of help.
I'm really excited to do this for my friend, Sarah. Her husband is in the navy and he is about to deploy to Iraq. They just celebrated the birth of their second child about two months ago, so they are wanting some photos before the husband leaves. Keep your fingers crossed that I do well!! I'll let you know how my first photography gig goes.
